Introduction to Yogalates

This class is the perfect combination of the gentle stretch of yoga and the core-building strength of Pilates in one. Yogalates is simply the perfect fusion… especially for those of us who cant quite decide if we fancy a yoga or pilates class that day!

Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by German-born, Joseph Pilates. He like many today, believed that mental and physical health were closely connected.  Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

Both practices involve holding specific postures for time, with focusing on the breath being encouraged throughout. The whole body will be challenged and regular practice will leave you reaping the many benefits. This fusion class simply blends together perfectly.

Our classes for Yogalates in Kettering are available in both warm and hot rooms. The heat will help you work up a sweat which allows the body to cleanse itself and release harmful toxins and waste from the skin.  It opens the body’s connective tissues helping the muscles get into more strenuous postures and positions during the yoga elements.

Hot Yogalates can also result in weight loss because stretching deeper helps to build more muscle, which in turn burns more fatty acids and breaks down glucose. Try Yogalates in Kettering at the Ironstone Wellbeing Centre for yourself!
