Nutritional Therapy is the application of the science of nutrition in the promotion of optimal health. It is holistic in nature, supporting the entire body and the interplay between its different systems; it can involve the use of functional testing to establish the root cause of health issues, supplement protocols as well as dietary and lifestyle advice.

What is Nutritional Therapy used for?

Nutritional Therapy can be used simply as a health reboot to get you back on track to feeling and operating more optimally.

More often than not however, clients seek nutritional therapy for more specific health issues which can range from weight loss to depression to arthritis to IBS & IBDs, cancer, ADD, ADHD, liver support, thyroid issues, low energy, brain fog, food intolerances, inflammation, psoriasis, diabetes, blood pressure, acne, menopause, auto-immune diseases and so on.

Almost all health issues can be supported through diet and lifestyle.

Clinical practice

Clinical practice is one to one consultation whereby individualised, tailor-made advice is given to support any given health issue.

Prior to the consultation, the client is asked to fill out a food diary and a detailed questionnaire about their diet, lifestyle and any ongoing health issues. The first stage of the consultation is dedicated to gathering further information resulting in a collaboration between client and therapist to agree the achievable and sustainable changes to diet and lifestyle. 

Functional testing is often used to establish the root cause of any health issues and supplements are sometimes advised to expediate and augment the program as well as multiply the therapeutic benefits.

Online Nutrition Programs

9 Day Autumn Detox 

What is it?

As the name suggests, this is a nine day program whereby you remove certain food groups (alcohol, caffeine, gluten, dairy and bad fats) from your diet, increase others (vegetables, in particular leafy greens, cruciferous veg, sulphurous foods, seeds, fish) and take some supplements.

How does it work?

Once you have booked onto to the program, you will receive a welcome pack with more detailed instructions and top tips to guide you through the nine days as well as a supplement list and where to buy them and a discount code.

Nearer the time you will be added to a WhatsApp group with everyone else on the cleanse; this will serve as a line of communication for open dialogue between myself and the group as well as everyone in the group to provide a peer group support network. I will post daily videos with advice and encouragement and everyone can share their experiences, recipe ideas and so on. I will guide you through the process step by step and you are welcome to contact me direct with any queries along the way.

Why do an Autumn Detox?

Your liver is a bit of an unsung hero; we tend to think it just deals with any alcohol we might consume but in truth, it is constantly multi-tasking, carrying out myriad chemical reactions to ensure the smooth running of our body and mind.

By removing certain everyday foodstuffs we can reduce the toxic burden on the liver and support its natural detoxification pathways giving it a chance to stop firefighting and get on with all the big jobs that it has been trying to get round to such as reducing latent toxicity, visceral fat, clearing up your skin, providing you with more energy, improving your digestion and giving you a lightness of being.

How can I expect to feel during the detox?

Depending on your diet and lifestyle, you may feel some caffeine withdrawals in the form of headaches and fatigue; some people have reported aching joints but found exercise alleviated this.

By the end of the nine days however, everyone who has done this course has reported increased mental clarity, improved mood, raised energy levels, clearer skin and an overall lightness of being.

Will I feel hungry?

This is not a calorie controlled diet; you can eat as much of the allowed foods as you like.

Is there a meal plan?

Yes, you will receive a plan with three meals a day plus snacks, smoothies and juices.

Will I lose weight?

Maybe; this is not a weight loss program per se but many people do report the loss of a few pounds.

Do I have to take the supplements for it to work?

No. The change in your diet is the most powerful tool we use and whilst the supplement protocol is recommended, it is not however, essential.

Then why take any supplements?

The supplement protocol will augment and expediate the program by offering further support to your liver and digestive system which in turn will increase the therapeutic benefits to you.
