Introduction to Teen Yoga

Teen Yoga is a great way to encourage your teenager to take part in physical activity. Yoga is a great form of exercise, which is designed to support both your mental and physical wellbeing. The poses of yoga increase strength, flexibility and coordination. Many teenagers are highly active, taking part in a variety of sports, yoga can be just a get relaxing recovery session to help your teen wind down.

This class can teach a teenager the skills to cope in high pressure situations for example in exams to stop you from panicking. The breathing techniques of yoga teaches you the skills to take a few seconds to breathe deeply and focus allowing you to focus and calm the mind. 

Aside from the skills this class can teach you, our teen yoga classes are a lot of fun and friendships will be built along the way. These classes are designed to be fun and engaging and will challenge you both mentally and physically. We use a variety of techniques to encourage Mindfulness through Yoga, Play & Performing.

Benefits of Teen Yoga

Focuses Your Mind – Yoga encourages a mindful state, helping you to feel relaxed and calm reducing stress levels. Learning techniques to help you stay calm are great for when you have to sit exams or if you are agitated over something. 

Improved Concentration – Amongst the many benefits of Teen yoga improved concentration levels is one that we all could benefit from. Improvements in the ability for to focus and sustain attention.  

Strengthens Your Body – The poses in yoga can improve your balance significantly, as well as help with leg strength and muscle control. With regular practice functional strength will develop. The fact that each pose is repeated on both sides of body allows us to work in symmetry. Holding a pose on one side may be easier than the other, but practicing both sides will develop body coordination and will challenge you. Most of all you will have a lot of fun!

Courses run along school term times and booking for these opens a couple of weeks prior.  Why not come along and try teen yoga in Kettering, at the Ironstone Wellbeing Centre.

What to Bring?

For now, due to Covid we will not be providing mats. You will therefore be required to bring your own.

Water – Hydration before, during and after class is key.

Currently due to Covid our changing facilities are unavailable, only toilets will be available.

We have onsite parking.
