Pilates is a great way for kids to promote good posture, spinal flexibility and body awareness. When combined with team building exercises, Pilates develops a child who is confident, aware and sensitive to others.

Suitable for age 5-7 years.

Introduction to Children’s Pilates

Pilates is a class that focuses on strength, core stability, flexibility, muscle control, posture and breathing. In childhood we begin to form bad habits, such as bad posture. Why not work on forming good habits for life! 

These classes are designed to be fun and engaging. Watch your child grow both physically and mentally. At the Ironstone Wellbeing Centre these classes are designed for age 5-7 years. 

Our first course post covid is due to commence shortly. We will be running a free 45 minute taster session on the 3rd September at 4.15pm. The course will then run for 7 weeks commencing the following week.

Benefits of Children’s Pilates

Improve Coordination and Balance – Pilates is a brilliant way of working on coordination and balance. Pilates is a whole-body workout, which is challenging. The fact that each pose is repeated on both sides of body allows us to work in symmetry. One side may be easier than the other but practicing both sides will develop body coordination and will challenge and improve motor development in your child.

Improved Concentration – Amongst the many benefits of children’s pilates improved concentration levels is one that we all could benefit from. You will see improvements in the ability for a child to focus and sustain attention. The focus required to hold the poses teaches certainly makes you have to concentrate!

Improved Self-Esteem and Body Image – Pilates is a whole-body workout designed to strengthen the core. Building strong core foundations will result in protection across the whole body, ideal for those growing bodies. Good posture and alignment is a result of a strong core. Pilates is great for personal body image and weight management.


We offer this class in a course format which runs alongside school term times. Week 1 of this course will be a free taster (3rd Sep) followed by a 7 week course deal for £49. A drop-in class for Children’s Yoga in Kettering at Ironstone is £10 a session. We do offer date forward enrolment on to a course which will reduce the costs for you too. 

Missed classes cannot be carried over into the next block but can be transferred to a friend to come and try it out instead. We just ask that you let us know that this is happening.

What to Bring?

For now, due to Covid we will not be providing mats. You will therefore be required to bring your own.

Water – Hydration before, during and after class is key.

Currently due to Covid our changing facilities are unavailable, only toilets will be available.

We have onsite parking.
