Ashtanga Vinyasa is a highly structured vinyasa-style class. This class is a repeated practice so is a great way to track and monitor your progression. In Sanskrit, the word “Ashtanga” means eight limbs. The eight limbs form a sequence from the outer to the inner.

Available in warm and normal temperatures.

Introduction Ashtanga vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa synchronises breath and movement into a flowing sequence of Asanas(Poses). Practiced correctly it builds strength, flexibility, stamina and helps to boost an overall feeling  of wellbeing and calm in the mind. Typically poses are held for 5 breaths before moving into the next pose. 

For this class we include breathing techniques, closing mantra and we will repeat a sequence so you become familiar with the poses and can develop your own self practice. This type of yoga can be very therapeutic and the potential for huge growth physically, mentally & spiritually.

Connecting with the breath – The breath is a powerful tool when it comes to our well-being. If we can learn to connect with the breath, energy also known as the prana, will begin to flow more freely. By allowing our energy to flow, this will give us the skills and tools to push through any emotional and physical blockages. Therefore, allowing us to free both body and mind and relax.

Focuses Your Mind – Yoga encourages a mindful state, helping you to feel relaxed and calm reducing stress levels.

Cardiovascular health – A Vinyasa class is often fast paces making for a great cardiovascular exercise class. Moving with the breath increases your heart rate.

A drop-in class for Ashtanga Vinyasa in Kettering at the Ironstone Wellbeing Centre is £12 a session. The price can be greatly reduced by purchasing a membership or class pack. Water – Hydration before, during and after yoga is key.

Currently due to Covid our changing facilities are unavailable, only toilets will be available.
